Well, I broke down and bought new shoes (again). I had just bought new shoes two months ago, but they were the wrong shoes... An inflamed ligament in my foot and terrible shin splints later, I got the picture.
Right now, I'm a bit nervous. I have what I think are shin splints, but reading and researching has made me think about my post run shin pain a little more closely.
So, I'm at a roadblock... I'm not running again until the pain is gone from my shins. Whether that's two day, two weeks, or longer, I don't want to be injured.
I just reached being able to run 2-2 1/2 miles, so this is very discouraging. When I'm ready, I get to run in these beautiful new Brooks Adrenaline shoes!

Do it anyway
Some days you just don't feel like it. It's that kind of day for me. Didn't feel like getting up, or cleaning up the house after company last night, or being grateful for my life, or a run.
But I did them anyway.
I took a few minutes in the quiet to re-adjust my thoughts, to encourage joy and remember that I love my life. I love working part time so the other is filled with making our lives easier.
I love running, I want to change my body and be healthier.
It's a just do it day. The first step is the one that gets you going!

Discomforts
So, my brilliant idea to ice my shin after yesterday's amazing run turned ugly.
Luckily, it doesn't hurt, but it is warm to the touch and slightly puffy...
Blisters, pulled ligaments, shin splints, and now this...
Still gonna run go, pushing thru discomforts towards my goal!

Pushing past the comfort zone
Just finished run #6 of my 45 day/5 runs a week challenge! Yeah, I'm just starting, but I feel stronger than I have in a long time. I cut 5 minutes off my total time from an equivalent run last week!
I'm just super excited! I'm not gonna be a quitter this time. I'm determined.
Oh, and ice packs are my friend!

Today
So it's a good day...
I'm really grasping the concept of God's love: how it's permanent, unfailing and perfect. How there's nothing we can do to make him love us more; we'll really never be worthy. But that's the point, exactly. It's easy. From acceptance of his love on our part comes the overflow, not vice versa. I'm thankful for Brian Treadaway and Encounter for helping me to accept the grace and love that is waiting when I quit judging myself (did you catch that?) and let it sink in. Wow, my mind is still blown. This "raised southern baptist girl" still has a tendency to think I have to earn it. One word: Jesus. The original revolutionary. Dang.
In other news? My foot is finally better! Proud to report that after my c25k week 5 day 1 (repeat bc of injury) that it feels and looks good! I'm inspired at the moment to run consistently (5xweek) for 9 weeks and complete. 5k race, with the hopes of shedding these lbs I've managed to collect over the past few stressful months. Minus injury, I've decided that this body isn't calling the shots anymore, and it's time to, as Nike so eloquently states, Just Do It. To take it to the limit one more time each run and do something I can be proud of.
So it's today. Monday. And I'm in it to win it.
Have a good one!
